The unusual shape of this bird retreat was an inspiration from Rennie MacIntosh for his intuitive talent of massing different shapes into a cohesive design. Air circulation is created by opportune openings, while not sacrificing the bird’s privacy.
My birdhouses are made of solid pine timber with no knots or a minimum of knots and painted with four coats of exterior house paint or clear coat polyurethane. All joints are either nailed (air nail gun), screwed, doweled or biscuit joined with exterior grade waterproof glue.
For easy cleaning, it has a removable panel to access the interior. Best if mounted on a 3” x 3 ” or 4” x 4” wood post.Use a double ended screw to join the birdhouse to the post.
